Ochratoxin-A

The ochratoxins are a group of closely related fungal metabolites produced by various species of Aspergillus and Penicillium. Ochratoxin-A is the most toxic of the ochratoxins. It causes necrosis of the renal tubular epithelium and periportal liver cells. Ochratoxin has been detected in grains,  peanuts, coffee beans and in wine. Maximum Levels (MLs) for ochratoxin-A have been established in various foodstuffs.

The ochratoxin-A FAST ELISA is used for the quantitative analysis of ochratoxin-A in wine, beer, cereals, cacao, chocolate, green coffee and feed. The total incubation time of the test is 45 (30 + 15) minutes.
The kit uses a polyclonal rabbit antibody which shows the following cross-reactivities: ochratoxin-A (100%), ochratoxin-B (9.3%), ochratoxin- α (<0.1%), coumarin (<0.1%), 4-hydroxy-coumarin (<0.1%) and D,L-phenylalanine (<0.1%).
The limit of detection (LOD) is 0.4 ng/g for feed (extraction), 0.6 ng/g for wine (extraction), 0.6 ng/g for beer (extraction), 0.8 ng/g for chocolate/cacao (extraction), and 1.0 ng/g for green coffee (extraction).
