Cat. No.: 5081TRIA
Triamcinolone acetonide is a synthetic glucocortcoid which is used as an anti-inflammatory drug. Corticosteroids such as dexamethasone and triamcinolone have been misused for fattening purposes. They were also found that these compounds have growth promoting properties to improve the commercial quality of meat.
Triamcinolone has been banned from livestock farming (Council Directive 96/22/EC).
The triamcinolone ELISA is used for the quantitative analysis of triamcinolone acetonide in cattle urine. The calibration curve is virtually linear in the range of 0.01 to 0.5 ng/ml. The kit uses a polyclonal rabbit antibody which shows the following cross-reactivities: triamcinolone acetonide (100%), fluocinolone acetonide (26.7%), 6α-methyl-prednisolone (0.02%), triamcinolone (0.02%), cortisone (<0.01%), dexamethasone (<0.01%), prednisolone (<0.01%), isoflupredone (<0.01%), prednisolone (<0.01%), betamethasone (<0.01%), flumethasone (<0.01%), fluoromethonolone (<0.01%), beclomethasone (<0.01%), beclomethasone dipropionate (<0.01%), and clobetasol propionate (<0.01%).
