Methyltestosterone ELISA
Cat. No.: 5841MTES
Methyltestosterone is an anabolic androgenic steroid. The chemical stucture is similar to that of the male steroid testosterone with a methyl group added on position 17α. It is used to treat men with a testosterone deficiency. It is also used in women to treat breast cancer, breast pain, swelling due to pregnancy, and with the addition of estrogen it can treat symptoms of menopause. Furthermore, methyltestosterone can be used as an anabolic compound in meat production to increase protein synthesis within cells which results in an increased cellular build up of muscle tissue.
The MPA ELISA is used for the quantitative analysis of methyltestosterone in cattle urine or tissue samples. The kit uses a polyclonal rabbit antibody which shows the following cross-reactivities: methyltestosterone (100%), methandrolone (47%), β-testosterone (33%), stanozolol (18%), 19-nortestosterone (2.7%), dihydrotestosterone (2.3%), and β-trenbolone (<0.1%).
