Methylprednisolone ELISA

Cat. No.: 5841PRED

Methylprednisolone is a synthetic corticosteroid, which is used in veterinary medicine as the free alcohol and as various esters. It is the 6α-methyl derivative of prednisolone and is used for the treatment of respiratory disease and urogenital infections in cattle.
A Community MRL  for methylprednisolone residues in bovine tissues has been established.
The methylprednisolone ELISA is used for the quantitative analysis of 6α-methyl-prednisolone in cattle urine.  The calibration curve is virtually linear in the range of 0.1 to 5 ng/ml. The kit uses a polyclonal rabbit antibody which shows the following cross-reactivities: (6α-methyl-prednisolone (100%), prednisolone (180%), betamethasone (5.4%), flumethasone (5.2%), isoflupredone (5.1%), triamcinolone (2.8%), cortisol (1.9%), prednisone (1.9%), corticosterone (1.1%), desoxycorticosterone (0.8%), dexamethasone (0.8%), triamcinolone acetonide (0.5%) and cortisone (0.2%).
