Clostebol ELISA

Clostebol is the 4-chloro derivative of the natural hormone testosterone (4-chlorotestosterone). It is one of the hormones regulated by the EU Council Directive 96/22/EC prohibiting its use in livestock farming as growth promoter for meat production.
The clostebol ELISA is used for the quantitative analysis of clostebol in cattle urine samples. The calibration curve is virtually linear in the range of 0.05 to 2 ng/ml. The kit uses a polyclonal rabbit antibody which shows the following cross-reactivities: clostebol acetate (120%), clostebol (28%), 4-chloro-androst-4-ene-3,17-dione (100%), β-testosterone (<0.1%), methyltestosterone (<0.1%), and nortestosterone (<0.1%).
